These are the loose abrasives we use to dress our diamond stones. They are now packaged in 200ml bottles with screw-on caps and have between 12 and 14 ounces of abrasives in each, depending on grit. We have added 100 grit and have replaced the 24 grit with 100 in our full set. The 100 grit is a better option for the 40 micron or 450 grit Matrix stones than either the 60 grit, which is too coarse, or the 220 grit, which is a little fine.
You do not have to use these exact abrasives to dress our stones, but they are the best we have found. The important factor is the size of the grit used, not what it is made from. This is what I use to dress my stones. If you dress the stones with smaller sized abrasives, they will cut less aggressively, so you can use this to adjust how the stones cut as well as the scratch pattern they leave.
Loose 60 grit is used for 80 or 250 grit stones, or 160 and 80 micron stones.
Loose 100 grit is used for the 450 grit stones, or 40 micron stones.
Loose 220 grit is used for 950 to 4000 grit stones, or 20 to 5 micron stones.
The micron sizes for the loose aluminum oxides are 60 grit is 250 microns, 100 grit is 125 microns, and 220 grit is 53 microns.
